Why The Rich Get Richer…..

The Thought Cycle

…. and the poor get poorer.

This – ladies and gentlemen – is the secret to everything. It’s what I call ‘The Thought Cycle’ and it’s why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It’s also why you get better or worse at something and why you may or may not be getting the results that you want in your life.

This is ‘The Thought Cycle

What this means is that everything really starts with a thought. Even the chair that you’re sitting on perhaps. It was a thought in someone’s mind to create it.

Imagine that you sign up for a marathon and you ‘think’ that you are not a good runner and it’s going to be really hard to train for it. This thought will lead to some kind of ‘feeling’. Maybe you’ll be depressed, overwhelmed, scared or similar. Then, the ‘action’ you take might be to put off training. This will lead to a ‘result’ on the day – like running a bad time, getting cramp, injuries etc, which will just re-enforce the idea or ‘thought’ that you’re not a good runner.

If, on the other hand, you are not a runner but you ‘think’ that you are able to adapt, learn and succeed at anything you apply yourself to, then you will ‘feel’ eager, keen, confident, excited and so on. The ‘action’ you are likely to take will be to go out and train, find coaches, read about running, sign up for small events and so on. This will ‘result’ in you running a great time and re-enforcing the ‘thought’ that you can do anything.

It’s a cycle.

In the same vain, it’s why the rich get richer and even if they lose their money (provided they made it and it wasn’t inherited) they can get it back. Just look at Donald Trump as a man who went from being worth billions to worth negative billions – even joking that the homeless person on the street was worth more than him! He later went on to earn the billions back and enjoy even more success!

So what does this mean to you and how can you apply it?

Firstly understanding the cycle is critical. The second thing to understand is that the cycle can be broken in any spot. For example you might fluke a top result which gives you the belief and permission (if you like) to generate more empowering ‘thoughts’ and a new cycle is born. You may force an action to create a result. Like the old adage says “I don’t sing because I’m happy, I’m happy because I sing!”  If you can force your actions they can lead to a change in thinking and emotions.
