This month’s book of the month also details what could be the most important health discovery ever.
It’s called Earthing, by Clint Ober. I first read it a couple of years ago and the idea fascinated me. It’s about Earthing (or Grounding, as it’s also known).
The idea being that we can get many health benefits by being in direct contact with the earth.
Might sound wild but the science is starting to support it (see footnotes for research).
Our planet is alive with natural energy sources. Surrounded by pulsating frequencies. The Earth’s surface is rich with negatively charged electrons (fed by the inner core of planet itself, the solar radiation, the lightening hitting the surface), and these are transferred to us through direct skin on earth contact.
The book goes into way more detail and science, but the high level summary is this. We draw up these negatively charged electrons into us when in contact with the Earth. Which we’ve been mostly doing more of for thousands of years (save for the last 50 – 100 years).
These negatively charged electrons can neutralise the positively charged free radicals like antioxidants. Free radicals are “little rascals” that cause havoc in our cells, causing them to become unstable. Free radicals are cells with unstable electron numbers, who then seek to capture electrons from their neighbours, who then in turn become free radicals. And a chain reaction ensures. That’s why there’s all this noise about antioxidants in the press.
But the Earth is a natural and abundant antioxidant. And free!
Grounding or Earthing, for a few minutes a day 20 – 30 minutes with your feet barefoot on the ground, has been claimed to reduce inflammation, improve sleep, reduce cortisol levels, thin coagulated blood and on and on. Again, see some of the research below or just Google “earthing + xyz” with whatever condition you are curious about and see what comes up.
Check out this paper when I searched “Earthing arthritis pubmed”
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3151462/
Which states:
“Earthing or grounding during sleep resulted in statistically significant changes in the concentrations of minerals and electrolytes in the blood serum: iron, ionized calcium, inorganic phosphorus, sodium, potassium, and magnesium. There was also a statistically significant reduction in renal excretion of both calcium and phosphorus during a single 7- or 8-hour night of sleeping grounded or Earthed. The observed reductions in blood and urinary calcium and phosphorus directly relate to osteoporosis. Specifically, Earthing for a single night reduced the primary indicators of osteoporosis.”
Even if you don’t read the book, you can see for yourself. Think about when you are barefoot on the ground. Do you feel better? I’m willing to guess yes.

This could be the most important health discovery every. But at the very least, it’s my book of the month recommendation for August.
What do you think? Have you heard about Earthing/Grounding before?
