Weird Sh!t I Own – Part 2

Cool Stuff

A while ago I filmed a video and wrote a blog on weird stuff I own. This is the follow up (and there will be more, as I realise I own quite a lot of weird stuff). All the things I’m listing are designed in some way to help me feel super!

Bamboo Straws

Bamboo Straws

I drink quite a lot of (vegetable) juices and (vegetable) smoothies. As a result, I feel, even if they are lower in sugar than fruit juices and smoothies, it’s a good idea to drink through a straw. And I don’t want to use plastic straws naturally. So I decided, for my juices anyway (for smoothies, I have a wider metal ones) to buy bamboo straws. Super strong, and re-usable.

Grab a some straws here.

Blue Light Blocking Glasses

Blu Blockers

I actually have three pairs of blue light blocking glasses. These are the darkest ones I own. I’ve been using them for about four years now. The reason? Because blue light at night (contained in all lights from TV’s, laptops, phones, lights etc) affects how melatonin – the sleep hormone – works in our body. In fact, it reduces this vital hormone. Needed for sleep, as well as general wellness, youthfulness, reducing body fat and fighting cancer.

From a subjective level, I feel way more wired when I haven’t worn my glasses. I typically put them on around dusk, but in extremes light middle of winter, I don’t put them on at 3pm (when the sun goes down), but more like 7pm, and in summer, when it doesn’t get dark until 9pm, I might put them on around 8pm.

You can get a pair here, but there are many types. The ones I wear out and about are less dark, and let light in through the side. They look a little be more normal. The ones I wear at home, do a better job of blocking out the light round the sides, and are darker and more effective, but a little embarrassing to wear out and about!

This little device, basically lights up your toilet bowl. Especially as I don’t like having lights on (even with my blue light blocking glasses), as it can still be pretty bright. And if you have to get up in the middle of the night, then the last thing you want to do is put on the light, or (eek!) miss the toilet altogether (guys, you know what I’m talking about!).

There are many different types on the market now, and you can check out a few here.

So there you have three items that help me in terms of my health and wellbeing and that of the planet (in the case of the straws).

What about you? Do you own any of these things? Let me know.
