Just read it. That’s what I say. My book of the month for October 2018 is one I read while in Cyprus over the summer. One of a handful of books I’ve ever read that I call ‘un-put-down-able’!
Seriously.
It’s called Shoe Dog. It’s the story of the early years of NIKE. The athletic and footwear brand. Written by Phil Knight – Nike’s founder. Well, actually he had a ghostwriter for the project and boy oh boy can that ghostwriter write a compelling book.
Although it’s a sort-of business book, it reads more like a novel than a business book. I never realised how close to failure Nike repeatedly came.
It’s funny, frantic and fantastic.
I don’t need to say any more than that. Regardless of whether you are interested in business, Nike or sports – this is a must read. I know you’ll be hooked too (based on conversations with other people who loved the book too). Coincidentally, the ghost-writer on the project also wrote another ‘un-put-down-able’ book by Andre Agassi – Open. Another great read.
