Worry. It’s a part of life. We all do it from time to time. Whether that’s about what your boss will think of your latest report, or what mood they come into the office in. Whether your kids will get into that school you want. Whether you will have enough money at the end of the month.
It’s a sign of life. But does it need to overwhelm us?
Here’s an idea for you. Rather than (potentially) worry about something throughout the day in micro-burst or having that low level worry all day, adopt this practice.
WORRY TIME
“Worry Time” is a specific short period of time where you allocate it just to worrying! Yes! That’s right. You CAN worry. But you only do it for 5 minutes (for example). That’s it. Do nothing but worry about the thing for those 5 minutes and then park it for the rest of the day. In that 5 minutes you might also be best served by writing down all the worst case scenarios, and then writing down “and then what will happen…” Ultimately you might find that it wasn’t that big a deal in the first place!
Straightforward enough right?
Then you can get on with the rest of your day after your “worry time” is up!
Take that forward this week in you work, home or social life and see how much less stress and more energy you’ll have.
